Pitching marketing services to the Belgium managers of Stella Artois within a week of landing a job in London turned out to be a steep learning curve for a young New Zealander and understanding the thinking used by leaders of large businesses intent on international growth.
While inspiring to work with, senior leaders with big plans have a low tolerance for conventional solutions and demand fresh new thinking to meet challenges that often have no precedence. Some of these people took the young Kel Marsh under their wing and lessons were learned that shaped his thinking and approach to business.

We don’t try to push businesses into conventional business frameworks.
That tends to make businesses similar in performance and drains inspiration out of the enterprise. Instead we suspend conventional thinking until we find out a) what is truly unique about each business, b) how it can become very valuable to customers and c) how it will 'speak' to customers to gain and hold their attention.
Once we have determined these three things we find there there is a confidence to create a truly unique plan with big objectives. Only then will we introduce the best practice rules that enhance and support the elements that sets the business apart, motivates the team and makes the business exciting.
